This guided tour will lead you to discover the entire production cycle of silk, a local excellence carried out by a local cooperative that today supplies precious yarns to the biggest names in high fashion.

The experience begins at 10:00 AM within the evocative setting of Castello Caracciolo, home to the Silk Museum. Here you will explore Catanzaro’s silk history among ancient damasks, natural dyes, the mysterious “byssus” (sea silk), and historic 4-shaft looms that are still functioning. From theory, you move on to nature: you will take a scenic circular nature trail immersed in a Mediterranean pine forest until you reach the large mulberry orchard. Here, among over 3,500 plants, you will discover the ideal habitat of silkworms and can closely observe their meticulous work.

The tour culminates with the true magic of craftsmanship: you will witness the reeling, the hypnotic moment when the cocoons are unwound to create a single continuous thread over 2 km long. Finally, you will enter the spinning mill, admiring unique machinery in Italy that transforms this masterpiece of nature into precious yarns destined for international runways.
